Construction Storytime

This storytime was our Build a Better World Summer Reading Kickoff, and it went really well.  I had good crowds, and most of the kids were very engaged in what I was doing.  During The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, I cued the kids to fake-sneeze as a group when the wolf sneezed in the story.  They loved it!  And in Tip Tip Dig Dig, I asked the kids to stand up with me and mimic the digging, lifting, pushing, etc. motions in the story.  They played along really well and helped make that book be a little more exciting.

Easter Storytime

Technically, this storytime was a little late since Easter was last Sunday, but the kids had a good time nonetheless. They thoroughly enjoyed both of the songs; I will definitely be using "Freeze Dance" again. The Color Monster is an oldie-but-a-goodie that I remember reading as a kid, and it went along perfectly with our craft. I think that the favorite book was probably The Easter Bunny's Assistant which I expected. You can't go wrong with stinky skunks!

National Library Week Storytime

I'm glad that I planned for four books instead of three because the kids stayed with me the whole time. They especially liked Book! Book! Book! because they got to make animal sounds with me. I don't know if they understood the play on words at the end of the story, but they enjoyed mooing and clucking. Raffi's song went very well, as I knew it would, but I wish that I had incorporated motions with "Take Me Out to the Library." I need to use that song again and do it right.
